The Morilaty Law of Afghanistan

Soon Following their three-year reign, the Afghan Taliban have

tightened social oppression even more. Their recent morals code consists of 35 articles that impose strict rules on behaviour and lifestyle, including fines for things like arriving late for prayers, hanging out with people who aren't related to you, owning private images, and listening to music.Additionally, they have blocked information that depicts "living beings" or those they believe to be in opposition to religion. Put otherwise, the law eliminates the freedoms enjoyed by the general public, media outlets, artists, and rights groups. Women are rendered invisible by the Ministry for the Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice; the Taliban detest any hint of female empowerment. The UN's designation of certain practices as "gender apartheid," such as required veils and restrictive dress codes, restrictions on women's ability to speak outside the home and their attendance at universities, colleges, and businesses, all fit into a larger pattern of eliminating women from public life and spaces. The morality squad is prepared to impose penalties for noncompliance, which might include warnings and even incarceration.

Fears both domestically and internationally failed to bring about the repeal of the hated law. Rather, the Taliban declared `soft} enforcement, a clear indication of systematic desensitisation. The international community should not be blind to the effects of the cruel edict. In addition to infringing upon human and civil liberties, shunning dissent, political and economic inclusion, and engaging in open discourse, it abandons women to the point where crimes against them remain unrecorded. Protected by the law, such a strict and patriarchal atmosphere fosters female foeticide, infanticide, domestic abuse, harassment, and rape.

We cannot abandon the people of Afghanistan, especially its women. Negotiating a social accord for the oppressed is crucial in a terrifying environment where state policies and public indoctrination favour systemic racism, masculine hierarchies, and subjugation. We are supporting a society that exclusively serves men by remaining silent.
